Coaches will be trained and certified in the three major coaching domains: Relating, Coaching, and Growing.
Outcomes for Relating
The coach will discover a variety of ways to foster trust in a coaching relationship. (Core ideas about making mistakes, vulnerability, etc.)
The coach will develop a methodology for to determine how to adapt to a variety of personality styles mindsets.
Outcomes for Coaching
The coach will be given a variety of strategies that will assist them in their development as a listener. (Aguilar, Knight)
The coach will develop strategies to triage coaching conversations and create questions that are appropriate for a variety of coaching situations (i.e. hard to coach, new teacher, veteran, coaching checklists, observations strategies, etc.)
The coach will be able to observe an active classroom and apply coaching principles in conversation with teachers.
The coach will discern when to provide feedback, praise, coaching (Stone & Heen)
The coach will understand a variety of coaching strategies and their implementation including limitations and drawbacks.
The coach will learn effective methods to track their coaching and use effective strategies to communicate with teachers . (Setting agenda, sending out notes after meeting, tracking meetings, scheduling, next steps.)
Outcomes for Growing
The coach will understand the core pedagogical instructional strategies that assist in coaching conversations (DI, instructional grouping, embedded technology use, assessment literacy, questioning, Cooperative Learning, Danielson rubric)
The coach will learn strategies to implement and run clear professional development programs in their district.
The coach will reflect and plan their next steps for the coming year.
