LEVEL 1
Instructional Coaching Certification

WHO: New and Aspiring Instructional Coaches; Administrators Who Support Coaching

OVERVIEW: Our Level 1 instructional coaching certification provides an introduction to foundational coaching skills including how to develop a coaching relationship. The workshop will focus on the consideration of individual learning styles and personality types when coaching. The workshop will provide an introduction to key questioning and listening skills that are important to utilize when engaged in coaching conversations. Strategies for conducting classroom observations and providing feedback will also be addressed. Break out sessions will focus on topics related to building and marketing a coaching program, coaching the reluctant and
how instructional coaches can lead and support professional learning. Upon submission of a final reflection and action plan, participants will receive a certificate of completion for the Level 1 certification course.

​LEVEL 2
Advanced Instructional Coaching Certification


WHO: Experienced  (Level 1 Certification or at least 2 years of coaching experience)

OVERVIEW: Our Level 2 instructional coaching certification provides advanced training in the areas of relating to others, coaching conversations and the coaching cycle. The workshop will focus on differentiating the coaching process based on individual learning styles and personality types. Participants will have the opportunity to practice and reflect on their communication skills through activities designed to further develop questioning and listening strategies that can be used in coaching conversations. The key components of a coaching cycle will be reviewed and participants will consider and reflect on how to best implement a coaching cycle in their own setting. Break out sessions will focus on topics related to building
and marketing a coaching program, coaching the reluctant and how instructional coaches can lead and support professional learning. Upon submission of a final reflection and action plan, participants will receive a certificate of completion for the Level 2 certification course.

Description:   This is a deep dive into your coaching practice. Participants will work with a learning team to develop a goal and analyze their coaching practice through video of coaching sessions, self-reflection and peer feedback. We will use the Chicago Coaching Center rubric for instructional coaching to guide this process.  All sessions will take place virtually via Zoom.
